The Modeling Area is the main area used for point-and-click modeling in Zoo Design Studio. It is the part of the workspace where you inspect geometry, select entities, sketch, model, and control the current view.
Within the Modeling Area, Scene refers to the 3D viewport itself. Modeling Area is the broader
user-facing term for the full working surface around it.
This section is split into:
What You Can Do
- Orbit, pan, and zoom the model
- Sketch and model directly in the 3D workspace
- Select geometry for commands and edits
- Use view controls, gizmos, and modeling tools while working
What You Cannot Do
- Reliably run modeling commands when the engine or network is not ready
- Ignore selection requirements, some tools require a face, plane, edge, sketch region, or body first
Key Differences in This Area
- Scene edits stay tightly linked to KCL source updates
- Command availability depends on engine and execution readiness, not only on selection state
- The Modeling Area combines the viewport, modeling toolbar, and view-orientation controls into one working surface
