Top Bar

The Top Bar is the always-visible bar at the top of Zoo Design Studio while you are working in a project. It gives you quick access to project navigation, undo and redo controls, the Command Bar, publishing, and account actions.

Left to Right Layout

Project Area

It contains:

  • The Zoo logo, which returns to home or the project list on desktop
  • A project dropdown menu when the menu is enabled
  • The current project and file breadcrumb in the dropdown trigger
  • The project name as static text when the dropdown is not enabled

The project dropdown can include:

  • Project settings, with its keyboard shortcut
  • Reveal in file explorer, on desktop
  • Add file to project, with its keyboard shortcut
  • Export current part, with its keyboard shortcut
  • Make current part, on desktop
  • Go to Home, on desktop
  • New Window, on desktop when you want a separate workspace

Export current part and Make current part can show Awaiting engine connection when the relevant command is not available.

Undo, Redo, and Reload

They contain:

  • Undo, which reverts the last modeling or editing action
  • Redo, which reapplies the last undone action
  • Reload, which refreshes the app or current project state for troubleshooting

Command Bar

The Command Bar button opens the Command Bar for fast search and execution of commands.

It shows the command shortcut in the button, such as Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.

Publish Button

The Publish button opens the Aquarium submission form for the current project. Add a title, description, and at least one category, then select Submit for review. Zoo Design Studio uploads the whole project, including files in subfolders.

You must be signed in and have a Zoo username before publishing. The button is disabled when the current KCL file is empty or contains errors. Existing submissions can be edited and sent again with Update submission.

See Aquarium for the complete publishing and review workflow.

Zoo Design Studio does not currently create direct project share links. To share a project publicly, publish it to Aquarium and use its public Aquarium URL after approval. Aquarium publishing is public and does not replace private or organization-restricted sharing.

User Menu

The right side of the Top Bar is the user menu, opened from the user avatar.

It contains:

  • The user name and email at the top
  • Manage Zoo account
  • User settings, with its keyboard shortcut
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Request a feature
  • Report a bug
  • Ask the community
  • Release notes
  • Check for updates, on desktop
  • Sign out
  • Sign out of all environments, on desktop when multiple environments are active

The menu uses dividers between logical groups of actions.

Visual Order

The Top Bar typically appears in this order:

  1. Project area
  2. Undo, redo, and reload
  3. Command Bar
  4. Publish
  5. User menu

Platform and Layout Notes

  • The exact arrangement changes slightly with screen size and platform
  • The Publish button is hidden in smaller layouts
  • Desktop-only actions such as Make current part, Go to Home, New Window, and Check for updates are not shown in the web version

What This Page Does Not Cover

This page covers the application bar and session controls, not the full set of modeling operations. For modeling features such as Extrude, Revolve, Loft, and Sweep, see the 3D Design section.
