Workspace covers the primary interface areas used to inspect, navigate, and edit the current design in Zoo Design Studio. This section documents the panels and editors that support modeling workflows across part modeling, assemblies, and direct KCL editing.

What You Can Do

  • Work directly in the 3D graphics area while opening and closing panes as needed.
  • Resize split areas by dragging pane boundaries.
  • Use the left and right pane zones for different tools and editors.
  • Use pane shortcuts such as Shift+T for Feature Tree and Shift+C for Code Editor.

What You Cannot Do

  • Expect every desktop pane behavior in browser mode.
  • Use desktop-only file workflows or make-related actions in the browser build.

Key Differences in This Area

  • The code editor and AI assistant are first-class workspace panes, not secondary add-ons.
  • Some pane behavior is platform-dependent, especially around files and local project workflows.

Start with Project Browser for opening and creating work. Inside a project, use Modeling Area for the Scene, Toolbar, and View Controls. Use the Top Bar for project and session controls. Use Feature Tree, Body Pane, and Code Editor to inspect model state and source. Use File Explorer and Variables Pane for project files and evaluated values. For keyboard-driven command access, see Command Bar. Use AI Chat to work with Zookeeper inside the workspace. For workspace-level state, see Status Bar. For interface and display preferences, see Settings. For display overrides such as body color and transparency, see Appearance.
